John (music and lyrics by Arthur S. Green, first performed by William Goat)

John went crashing down
There was nothing we could do
Down the stairs he fell
And he split his head in two
We tried to fix him up with Krazy glue
But John was never the same
And his eyes were always cold
His bowel movements he could never hold
His broken brain screamed out to me

He said Please oh, Please don’t leave me lying here
I’m not Dead as I might appear
Please oh, please don’t leave me all alone
I’m sorry, but I'm just flesh and bone

And he couldn’t say a thing
But John went crashing through
To the other side of life
I wonder if we’ll ever calibrate
But John is really gone
And his eyes are deadly cold
His bowel movements he will never hold
His broken brain screamed out to me

He said Please oh, Please don’t leave me lying here
I’m not Dead as I might appear
Please oh, please don’t leave me on my own
I’m sorry, can’t you see I can’t say

There was pennies on his eyes
But John was 54
When we finally closed the lid.
